BIDI – short for biodiversity vouchers – are a living experiment. A BIDI only comes into existence when someone has done concrete work for biodiversity in nature. That is the only way BIDI are created, and they are issued and safeguarded solely by the BIDI organisation.
The value is fixed: 1 BIDI equals 1 Swiss franc, earned at a rate of 10 BIDI per hour of work in the field. The organisation is non-profit – any surplus belongs to biodiversity. A small share of every exchange flows into the BIDI fund and finances new nature projects.
Every BIDI carries a unique number. On the website you can look up, for any BIDI number, what work was done, when and where – and what it achieved for biodiversity.
We are rooted in the Aare region around Bern – from Muri and Gümligen to Oberbottigen – working hand in hand with the local permaculture community.
